Conscious Living
How many times have you been told to ‘live in the moment’? Can you honestly say that this is something that you apply to your life? Do you ever think about your awareness? Exploring the concept of being present within our own lives takes effort, but is essential to a healthy lifestyle.
When you’re a child, life seems to pass by a little more slowly. Everything is a new experience; everything fully captures your attention. As we age, we stop giving our attention to the world around us. We stop asking as many questions and start living within our own minds, relying on our habits to take us through our day-to-day motions.
This change happens without us ever really noticing, and that is precisely the problem. We’ve stopped making choices based on thought, and started making choices based off of what we already know. This is the exact opposite of conscious living.
Living and feeling each part of your life is crucial to understanding it, as well as achieving emotional and mental health. This process starts with reminding yourself daily to be present in each moment. When waking up, be careful of the thoughts and energy that you start your day off with. When making choices in food, think about what your body actually needs and how your food will fuel it. When in difficult situations, listen to your inner dialogue and the atmosphere that you create for yourself.
We truly have the ability to create our lives exactly as we want them. Each portion of your life directly correlates to a choice you have made, and those choices all stem from your thoughts. Being in tune with yourself may seem simple, but it’s often surprising how disconnected we are in our own minds. Taking a little time out of each day to meditate on how you feel can be the perfect introductory way to living a more conscious life.
