As National Coffee Day comes to a close, we’d like to give a little shout out to the magical little plant that is the coffee bean. Coffee is the second most valuable legally traded commodity in the entire world, second only to oil. We love it, we rely on it, and it’s become part of our every day culture. Coffee’s origins date back to Ethiopia in the 11th century, when it was first consumed without roasting first, but in it’s raw state as a bean inside of a cherry-like fruit. This plant has been praised for its energy giving properties, even being hailed as the drink of kings.
Since this time, coffee has come a long way. For most people in the world, coffee is a part of their everyday routine. About 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed every day! This incredible plant provides so much caffeine that it created an entire industry on its own.
At Body Karma, we love coffee. We are so excited to bring you our own cold brewed coffee- the least acidic and most healthy way to consume this plant. When in it’s most natural state, it can help prevent diabetes, lower the risk of liver disease, help prevent Parkinson’s disease, and help promote heart health. Our beauty line, Karmasutra, also uses freshly ground coffee as the base of our Karmasutra scrub because coffee is incredible when used topically. It’s a natural exfoliator that works with your body to scrub away dead skin and helps with skin rejuvenation. It has the same PH level as your skin so it never leaves you dry OR oily, but stays perfectly balanced. The high levels of caffeine help to stimulate blood flow, resulting in the reduced appearance of cellulite, stretch marks, psoriasis, eczema, and other skin conditions. It’s also packed with antioxidants that target free radicals- the cause of bad skin conditions!
It’s clear that we love coffee and its humble roots, which is one of the reasons why we’ve partnered up with Hopeful Africa. Hopeful Africa is an amazing non-profit initiative to help foster sustainable prosperity in Africa through educational development. We believe that everyone should have access to education and that it can truly help empower people. Hopeful Africa seeks to create meaningful and long lasting programs in Africa through investing in education. We are proud to partner with such a wonderful non-profit that is doing so much for Africa. Part of the proceeds from every Karmasutra scrub goes towards Hopeful Africa and supporting their enterprises. That’s the Body Karma way.
